World’s Richest Man, Bill Gates Reveals his biggest Regret In Life
Bill Gates, World’s Richest man |
During Reddit’s Ask Me Anything online chat session, the billionaire confessed to feeling “pretty stupid” for not being able to match the language skills of others, including Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg’s ability to speak fluent Mandarin.
“I feel pretty stupid that I don’t know any foreign languages,” Mr Gates wrote.
“I took Latin and Greek in high school and got A’s and I guess it helps my vocabulary but I wish I knew French or Arabic or Chinese.
“I keep hoping to get time to study one of these – probably French because it is the easiest. I did Duolingo for awhile but didn’t keep it up. Mark Zuckerberg amazingly learned Mandarin and did a Q&A with Chinese students – incredible.”
As well as admitting to his linguist failings, he revealed despite his wealth he is not a big spender.
“I am pretty basic when it comes to clothes and food. My big splurge is having a plane to fly around in,” he said.
“I play tennis so I invest in shoes and racquets to help but they don’t make a big difference.”
Mr Gates reportedly uses a Bombardier BD-700 Global Express as his private jet which costs around $50 million to buy.
Outside of his questions about his wealth, the philanthropist was asked which life lesson he learned “the hard way”.
To which, Mr Gates’ response was quite unexpected.
“Don’t stay up too late even if the book is really exciting. You will regret it in the morning,” he said.
“I am still working on this problem.”
This is the third time Mr Gates has answered questions live on Reddit.
To prove his identity to users of the wesbite community he posted a video to his official Youtube account where he appears in a Love Actually parody thanking Reddit for hosting the interview.
