The Old Trafford legend reckons the Red Devils should sign Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, Raphael Varane and re-sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

Speaking to fanzine United We Stand, Scholes said: “I’d like Luka Modric. How old is he now? Might be a bit too old, but he’s a great player.

“I like Raphael Varane. I said realistic and I’m picking Real Madrid players?
“We probably need a centre forward but there’s not too many of them about so I’m going to say I’d like us to bring Paul Pogba back.”

The Old Trafford Legend has been an outspoken critic of United boss Louis van Gaal’s dour style of play in recent months.
Back in January he said: “The players looked bored themselves. There’s no spirit, there’s nobody having a go at each other, there’s no smiling, there’s no entertainment.

“I think even Van Gaal on the bench looks bored, but he’ll come out and say he’s happy.
“As players sometimes you have to lift the crowd, whether it’s a tackle, whether it’s a shot on goal. You need to make something happen as a footballer at this club.
“To just to go through the motions like they did, people need digging out sometimes, it just seems to be accepted.”

The case of Pogba is a particularly sore point for United.
