Emmanuel Amuneke has rejected offers to return to the Golden Eaglets or work as assistant Coach in Nigeria’s U-20 Men’s national team after last week’s declaration by the NFF President Amaju Pinnick at a media parley.
Amuneke guided Nigeria’s U-17 Men’s football team to glory at the 2015 Edition of the World Cup in Chile and in a bid to effect a smooth transition to the U-20s the FA Chief offered the Eaglets and Flying Eagles Head Coach job and Assistant Coach roles to the former Nigeria International.

Speaking with footballlive.ng, Amuneke stressed that he was averse to the idea of taking up an appointment offered without following the appropriate channels .
Amuneke has remained clear on the need for a review of his role as the Eaglets coach, giving hints he may not return.
On Wednesday the 44-year-old said:
‘ No doubt coaching the national team is something I consider a huge privilege and when you even get to win honors with the national team, I think there are very few experiences that can beat that.

‘ However, I don’t subscribe to certain situations and certainly I don’t think announcing the appointment of a coach on air without a meeting with the party involved or a written contract is not how I’ll choose to work.’
